The Great American Smokeout 2009 is today and a spokesperson for the Iowa Chapter of the American Cancer Society is interrogation smokers to take a some other approach to the yearly event. A-C-S spokesman Chuck Reed says they are reassuring smokers to use the day as a starting point to the end.
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) November 19, 2009 -- For a lots of men, the Great American Smokeout 2009 means a new outset but West Virginian Joe Balog sees it as a grand ending. To Joe, every single November is a milestone anniversary. This year he's celebrating 2 years of smoke free living. In Nov 2007, Joe turned to Dan Vitchoff, Board Certified Hypnotherapist and President of PA Hypnosis Center in Pittsburgh, in what felt like a 'last straw' to try to quit cigarettes forever.
Great Falls High School student Sara Stewart often hears from her peers that they believe they are immune to the effects of smoking.
"I know that a lot of teenagers don't think smoke will affect them," Stewart said.
That was the thought behind her anti-smoking placard, which shows a woman with her left side appearing young, while her right side appearing old, gray and wrinkled.
Should Americans be worried for the increase in cigarette smoking? Yes. Smoking wreckers almost every organ in the human body and is linked to at least 15 different kind of cancers. While, in accordance with to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, smoking target figure have stayed for equal for the past five years, anything short of a decline is certainly troubling. wiki

SunRail - another push by lawmakers

Republican leaders, however, say it is Democrats who have been slow to climb aboard.
Federal transportation officials have made 8 billion available through the Federal Railroad Administration to develop high-speed and commuter rail initiatives nationwide. Florida is one of several large states vying for the cash.
House Speaker Larry Cretul, R-Ocala remains uncommitted, but House Republicans have said theyre waiting to get committed until they see if the Senate now has enough votes after killing the project earlier this year.
He was speaking to the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization directors meeting Thursday at its monthly gathering.FL is moving forward someone said.
He launched a PowerPoint presentation. The first slide was of a donkey pulling a street car over tracks laid in a dirt road in what appeared to be a rural setting. Isn't it all about choices
State legislators pushing for SunRail are in the process of gathering support should a special session be called in the coming weeks.
Florida future is important.
The deal’s biggest critic, state Sen. Paula Dockery, R-Lakeland, has called the deal overly generous to CSX.

Miami Dolphins - Ronnie Brown injury
Ronnie Brown injury is a blow
The Dolphins season nearly came to an end earlier today.
With a visit to rapidly-improving Carolina up next, the Dolphins have some major problems, beginning with key injuries and a penchant for fourth-quarter collapses.
Running back Ronnie Brown’s ankle tops the list because who’s going to replace him?
The Dolphins didn’t seem to miss LB Joey Porter much, either.
On the second one, Henne threw Bess open while the defender’s back was turned, a quality coach Tony Sparano praised in Drew Brees a few weeks back.
Tampa Bay’s TD makes 96 points scored against Miami in the fourth quarter, second-worst in the NFL to Buffalo (101, including 24 Sunday).
But Ricky and Ronnie had established a nice balance. After all, this was Williams’ first 20-carry day since the final game of the 2005 season. Can he keep it up the pace without Brown in the mix and Pat Cobbs out for the season with a knee injury?
1. Running back Lex Hilliard is likely to get his chance this week. But with no carries this season, will Hilliard be ready?
The Carolina defense should remember Hilliard. During the preseason he had a game-high 52 yards rushing against the Panthers, including a 39-yard burst down the sidelines.
Miami will need a strong running game against Carolina, whose own running game entered this week’s games leading the NFC in rushing. Just as Brown and Ricky Williams were a great 1-2 punch, Hilliard and Williams make for a tandem that could pound away at a Carolina run defense, which was ranked 23rd entering the weekend.
2. Linebacker Charlie Anderson made a bigger impact than Joey Porter has all season. But Anderson’s inconsistency, not his talent, has held him back.
{Anderson stepped in for Porter and had one of his best games in two seasons as a Dolphin, with five solo tackles, including a sack, and two forced fumbles.
Anderson, a sixth-year pro, showed big-time flashes a few times a season ago, highlighted by his performance in Toronto against Buffalo (four solos, a sack, two FFs). He followed it with nice outing against San Francisco, including a key sack late in the game.
Anderson has the size (6-4, 250) and speed few, if any, Dolphins can match off the edge. But he disappears too often and makes mental errors.
3. Kicker Dan Carpenter answered the challenge of training camp nemesis Connor Barth.
Barth did his job, and the team released him.
The Dolphins’ braintrust must have wondered Sunday, when Barth set a franchise record with three field goals of 50 yards or longer. His leg kept the Bucs within striking range until the offense finally woke up and nearly pulled off the upset.

Budget cuts will mutilate California colleges and universities
From the 1960s to the 1990s the vocational training system in California was 2nd to none. People flocked to this impressive state so that their young girls and boys not only had admission to the K-12 system, but to a open university system that rivals the Ivy League.
The University of California system is a appreciable player in the world of secondary education; however, with the recent budget cuts – and the designs for more – that may all be replacing. This is a contortion and will only work to tip the scales in the wicked direction.

Taylor Swift Country Music Association Awards 2009
On Wednesday evening, Swift stormed the Country Music Association Awards 2009 and took home all 4 prizes for which she was nominated, including the much-coveted Entertainer of the Year trophy.
While it seemed like a validation of Swift's success from the country music establishment, no much people was pleased with the 19-year-old's victory. Country music legend Wynonna Judd spoke out versus Swift's victory, though she reversed her position on Thursday.
During an interview on the show's red carpet Wednesday night, the Country legend was asked what advice she would give to Taylor. "You want my loyal comment? It's too much too soon," Wynonna said, according to USAToday.com. "Time is God's way of keeping all from happening at once. It's just too much of a good thing too soon. Mom and I rode in a automobile for the first year of our career to visit radio stations. There was a making of the star, there was a rising-up, and the fans went with us. Now it's over coffee breaks, the success, almost."
But on Thursday, Judd clarified her stance on the message board of her official Web site. "I understand that my comment about Taylor Swift's Entertainer of the Year nomination came across as a negative statement," Wynonna wrote. "My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry, all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of any age. Taylor is a beautiful, hard-working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business."
